Samanism Tour - 7 Days
Shamanism is a term used in a variety of anthropological, historical and popular contexts to refer to certain magico-religious practices that involve a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to encounter and interact with the spirit world. A shaman is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits, who typically enters a trance state during a ritual, and practices divination and healing. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness. The shaman also enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community. Shamans may visit other worlds/dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls and to ameliorate illnesses of the human soul caused by foreign elements. The shaman operates primarily within the spiritual world, which in turn affects the human world.
Shamanic beliefs and practices have attracted the interest of scholars from a wide variety of disciplines, including anthropologists, archaeologists, historians, religious studies scholars and psychologists. Hundreds of books and academic papers on the subject have been produced, with a peer-reviewed academic journal being devoted to the study of shamanisms. In the 20th century, many westerners involved in the counter-cultural movement adopted magico-religious practices influenced by indigenous shamanisms from across the world, creating the Neoshamanic movement.
Shamanism is widely practiced in Hills & Terai regions of Nepal since early era .mostly in tamang villages it is still practiced. The Performance of witchdoctor (Jhankari) by beating drums & swallowing fire to drive away the evil spirits is spectacular to watch We organize trips to the villages of these Shamans. These villages are on the route to some mountains and serves the double purpose of a trek as well. In Many mountain villages , mostly in tamang settlements it is still practiced .Every year we organize trek to Lake Gosainkunda where Shamans from Langtang region gather during Janai Purnima festival. It is a great scene for Shaman watchers.
Shamanistic entheogenic journeys is entirely voluntary, but the opportunity is there. You will, in any case, be an observer and our small group will meet daily both formally and informally for philosophical dialogue in which we share and reflect on our experiences and observations. Most of your fellow travelers will probably have had some exposure to some of these traditions in some form. We will reflect on how these pre-modern orientations can be integrated into a postmodern lifestyle.
